Justin Cobb
The son of a nuclear submarine’s first captain, Professor Justin Cobb grew up with no home port, learning as a boy to fix his position in Channel fog from the Morse signature of radio beacons. His father’s question — “Do you know where you are?” — became a lifelong pursuit: carrying the frame of reference into theatre, guiding the surgeon’s hand with imaging and the robot, sparing the joint rather than sacrificing it. And measuring, always, to stay humble.
